Grayson Allen has shown potential to carve a niche in the NBA, but NBA Live 19 has already elevated the Utah Jazz guard to the level of some of the best rookies from this year's NBA Draft.

Allen was given a 79 overall rating in the game, above rookies like New York Knicks forward Kevin Knox (drafted No. 9 — 78 overall) and L.A. Clippers guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (drafted No. 11 — 78 overall).

EA Sports; the video game publisher, noted the reason for the ratings in the excerpt below.

“Taking a quick look into these ratings, Allen and Holiday were both taken outside of the lottery, 21 and 23, respectively, but both warrant high ratings as both of them showed up to play in the Vegas Summer League. The other thing to note about these players is that they each carry a veteran guard presence and are going to playoff teams who can each use rookies who play with a chip on their shoulder.”

Knox was perhaps THE most impressive rookie of the entire Summer League, dazzling with a combination of size, range, and athletic ability — likely enough to make Knicks fans regret their boos at draft night.

Gilgeous-Alexander showed flashes of brilliance as well, putting together some good minutes at both ends of the court with his length and athleticism.

Allen showed some promise, but to be ranked above the two aforementioned — it leads to think someone is particularly fond of the former Duke Blue Devil in the EA office.

Only time will tell if these original ratings were accurate or not, but they will change according to the players' performance over the course of the season.

Regardless, enjoy a 79-rated Allen for the entire preseason and the first few games of the regular season before a rating adjustment comes around.
