The coronavirus is affecting people from all walks of life, and not even NBA players are spared from the dangers of the pandemic. Unfortunately, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert was the target of ire from some inconsiderate fans for being the cause of the season's suspension.

Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune got in touch with the French big man during the pandemic and confirmed what many thought would happen once Adrian Wojnarowski dropped his name as the first player in the NBA to test positive for the coronavirus.

Some fans immediately passed the blame to Wojnarowski for unnecessarily naming Gobert. Since the coronavirus is a serious health issue that can affect how people interact with a patient, it was unethical journalism from Wojnarowski to put Gobert's health and image in danger from the attacks of narrow-minded fans.

The issue also ruined what was a solid season from the Stifle Tower. Before the shutdown, he was averaging 15.1 points, 13.7 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 2.0 blocks a game. His impressive statistical performances over the season will most likely be tossed under the rug as he will be remembered this season as the player who stopped the NBA due to contracting the illness.

The coronavirus situation also puts his future with the Jazz in question. There are talks throughout the league that Donovan Mitchell is still hesitant about fixing his relationship with the center, and talks of a trade are already surrounding the two stars. Gobert will most likely be the one to go as Mitchell has the makings of a superstar about him.

It's been a tough couple of weeks for Gobert. He can only hope that fans will look at his situation with more empathy, but the passionate fans won't likely give him the time of day for ruining their season.
