Utah Jazz had big man Rudy Gobert an important message to share following the “show of unity” between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans in the NFL opener on Thursday was met by massive booing by the fans.

Gobert took a shot at the Chiefs fans who booed, saying how he believes their actions are a clear reflection of their beliefs:

Americans have been polarized by players taking a stand against systemic racism during games. For some, it is only right that the players use their platform to make their strong feelings against inequality known. However, for others, the belief is that sports and socio-political issues should be treated separately.

Rudy Gobert made it clear which side he's taking here. The Jazz center has himself been quite vocal about the string of racial killings that have mired the nation of late, and he was one of the many players that decided to take a knee during the playing of the national anthem prior to NBA games. This was their way of protesting the unjust murders of members of the Black community at the hands of police — among other things — and the NFL has quickly followed suit.

However, the NFL's iteration of the protests was not exactly met with open arms by its supporters. The incessant jeering made that abundantly clear. It is interesting to see what type of effect this reception will have on other teams moving forward. Surely, other NFL sides are also considering mounting their own forms of protest, but this recent development will likely have an impact on their actions.
