The Utah Jazz plan to sign David Stockton, son of Hall of Famer and franchise legend John Stockton, for the remainder of the season after his second 10-day contract expired on Thursday, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

This is a dream come true for the Stockton family, as bloodlines still appear to flow deep in Salt Lake City.

Stockton has yet to play major minutes for the Jazz, as they've made a rousing push for the highest available seed since the start of the calendar year.

A 5-foot-11 product out of Gonzaga, the same alma mater as his father, Stockton has only played three times for three minutes each since getting the call-up from his first 10-day contract — scoring in each game.

While he hasn't shown much at the NBA level to warrant a contract — the signing is a relatively low-risk gamble for Utah, who is short one point guard in the depth chart with the recent absence of Raul Neto, who has missed the last 12 games.

Stockton had an excellent preseason game against the Golden State Warriors as a member of the Sacramento Kings, earlier this season — posting 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting, along with eight assists and two steals.

The 26-year-old has played most of this season in the G League and was called up after the recommendation of scout David Fredman, who voiced his thoughts to general manager Dennis Lindsey and head coach Quin Snyder.
