On Wednesday, news emerged that former Utah Jazz player Elijah Millsap was accusing team vice president of basketball operations Dennis Lindsey for the latter's use of a racial slur during Millsap's exit interview from the 2014-15 season. It is now being reported that the NBA is currently undertaking an investigation on this matter and that the Jazz organization is offering their full support for the same.

This comes via Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:

The Utah Jazz are cooperating with an NBA investigation into former guard Elijah Millsap's allegation that executive vice president of basketball operations Dennis Lindsey made bigoted comments during a 2015 end-of-season meeting, the team announced Thursday.

Millsap made the allegations on Twitter, revealing how Lindsey told him, “‘if you say one more word, I'll cut your Black ass and send you back to Louisiana.”

When asked to comment about the controversial allegation, Lindsey said: “I categorically deny making that statement.” Millsap claims that Jazz coach Quinn Snyder was also present during the exit interview. For his part, Snyder also earlier came out to say that he “can't fathom Dennis saying something like that.”

Lindsey himself is backing the NBA's investigation on the matter. He seems confident in not having uttered the alleged racial slur and is more than willing to cooperate in the league's investigation.

Elijah Millsap is the brother of Paul Millsap, who himself spent several seasons playing for the Jazz. Utah cut Elijah in 2016. He played a couple of games for the Phoenix Suns during the 2016-17 season but has since been able to return to the NBA.
