According to a report from Tony Jones of The Salt Lake Tribune, the Utah Jazz are interested in offering Derrick Favors to the Chicago Bulls for Nikola Mirotic.

No deal has been made yet, but it sounds like the two sides are exploring their options. There could be a few hang-ups, though. It sounds like the Bulls would like the Jazz to throw in a first round pick as a bit of extra compensation.

“Reports Tuesday suggest the Bulls want a first round pick as compensation for Mirotic, something they have inquired the Jazz about.”

Mirotic, now 26 years of age, signed with the Bulls last summer as a restricted free agent. He's a great offensive talent, but he also has a no-trade clause, which further complicates this deal. However, multiple sources have said he is interested in waiving it.

In his 17 appearances with the Bulls this season, Mirotic has turned in averages of 17.4 points on 48.6 percent shooting from the field (46.5 percent from beyond the arc), 7.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

Favors, a 26-year-old power forward, has great presence in the paint. In his 38 games played this season, the former No. 3 overall pick in the Draft has posted averages of 12.5 points on 55.1 percent shooting, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.

This season's trade deadline falls on February 8. Let's see if these two teams come to an agreement before then.
