The Utah Jazz have struggled recently, having gone 3-7 in their last 10 games, though they have been without their two stars, guard Donovan Mitchell and center Rudy Gobert. With both Mitchell and Gobert's returns on the horizon, things are seemingly trending in the right direction for Utah. Or are they? The latest Jazz rumors indicate that the Mitchell-Gobert beef, thought to be resolved somewhat, is coming into focus again in light of the team's recent struggles, as stated by Brian Windhorst and Tim MacMahon. Here are their words, via RealGM.
“Gobert and Mitchell have been at each other's… I don't know if I can say at each other's throats,” said Brian Windhorst.
“It's back to being passively aggressively awkward,” interjected Tim MacMahon.
“It's the most underplayed story in the league, I think,” continued Windhorst. “The Jazz are struggling a lot. This team had big expectations and they're getting passed by frankly. They are not on the level they were a year ago. Donovan and Gobert, even though they're both under long-term contract, are under each other's skin. There's all kind of subtweeting and passive aggressive stuff going on.”
This is pretty telling stuff from Windhorst and MacMahon. The latest Jazz rumors seem to suggest that Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert are “passively-aggressively awkward” with each other and are “under each other's skin.”
The Jazz rumors then went on to say that Gobert praised Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker for his defensive improvements, which was seemingly a dig at Mitchell for his own perceived shortcomings on that end of the floor.
Perhaps things will get better if the Jazz start winning, though these rumors suggest that the Donovan Mitchell-Rudy Gobert relationship has entered dangerous waters.
