Utah Jazz standout Donovan Mitchell's memorable putback slam last season was posted side-by-side to a Kobe Bryant dunk, and the two plays turned out to be eerily similar.

The side-by-side comparison was edited to perfection; it was as if the words of veteran commentator Marv Albert were actually meant for Mitchell's highlight dunk. Even Mitchell's running jumper in the paint, which led to the put-back slam, almost exactly mirrored that of Bryant's.
There is even an added bonus towards the end of the clip with Marv Albert fervently stating, “Watch this kid!” in reference to a young Bryant. The statement is also aptly applicable to Mitchell himself, who is considered by many as one of the most promising youngsters in the league today. A lot of people are definitely keeping their eyes on this kid.
Aside from his occasional highlight plays, Mitchell had a stellar rookie campaign for the Jazz. After being drafted 13th overall by the Denver Nuggets who immediately, and regrettably, shipped him off to Utah, the 21-year-old proved to be arguably the most impressive rookie out of his class.
Averaging 20.5 points, 2.4 3-pointers, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, he amazingly led the Jazz to the Western Conference semifinals, where they would eventually fall at the hands of the Houston Rockets. He was voted second overall in the Rookie of The Year race, only behind Philadelphia 76ers stud Ben Simmons.
With a long and bright career ahead of him, Mitchell still has a lot of time to establish himself as one of the greats. Whether he will reach the heights of Bryant's illustrious career though, is an altogether different question.
