We’re back for another frantic week of fights as the UFC touches back down in Las Vegas for a new fight card from The Apex. We’re also back with our betting predictions as we pick this next fight in the Featherweight (145) Division. Indonesia’s Jeka Saragih will take on South Carolina’s Westin Wilson. Check out our UFC odds series for our Saragih-Wilson prediction and pick.

Jeka Saragih (14-3) comes into his third UFC appearance with a 1-1 record through last year. Saragih earned a contract through the Road to UFC tournament, but dropped his debut against an inspired Anshul Jubli. Later, he redeemed the loss with a first-round knockout over Lucas Alexander in his most recent bout and looks for the same result here. Saragih stands 5’8″ with a 69-inch reach.

Westin Wilson (16-9) will be looking for his first UFC win after an 0-2 start in the promotion. Fighting in a number of organizations and winning three-straight before entering the UFC, Wilson dropped fights to Joanderson Brito and Jean Silva in the first round of each. He’ll be looking to defy the odds as the underdog and get the ball rolling with his first win. Wilson stands 6’1″ with a 73-inch reach.

Why Jeka Saragih Will Win

Jeka Saragih is a promising talent coming from the Road to UFC tournament who specializes in kickboxing and being extremely violent. With nine of his 14 wins coming by way of KO/TKO, he’s a fearless Muay Thai striker that doesn’t mind competing in a brawl. Saragih actually came into his debut fight as the slight favorite, but ran into a brick wall in Anshul Jubli. He showed his resolve by bouncing back and exacting the same fate for his opponent with a subsequent first-round knockout. Saragih will have the noticeable advantage with his hands and should be able to control this fight from a kickboxing standpoint.

Jeka Saragih will be giving up some size in this fight and we saw how he struggled against a bigger, stronger opponent like Jubli. Saragih will have to utilize his kicks in chopping down Wilson’s legs and limiting his mobility. The Indonesian is most lethal when his opponents start walking backwards and he explodes forward with a barrage of punches. With the betting line where it’s at, we can expect a sizable discrepancy in the power and hand speed coming from Saragih in this fight.

Why Westin Wilson Will Win

Westin Wilson has had a tough start with his first two fights being knockouts in the first round. He hasn’t even really gotten a chance to showcase his skills and he’s got his back against the wall early into his UFC tenure. His path doesn’t get much easier here as he faces another ferocious striker in Saragih. Westin Wilson is a talented striker in his own right and fights with a unique karate style, similar to that of a Kevin Holland. He’s light and bouncy on his feet and snaps his legs kicks up in the blink of an eye. The downside is that he typically keeps his hands low at his side, so he’ll have to be careful and mindful of the power from his opponent.

Wilson’s biggest advantage in this fight will be his length and reach over Saragih. Wilson has faced other fighters of the same stature and has seen success with his kicking game. If he can get his kicks going to all three levels of the body, it should force Saragih to pull back a little and second-guess his points of attack. Wilson also has great cardio and can really turn the pressure up if he can survive the first five minutes.

Final Jeka Saragih-Westin Wilson Prediction & Pick

This fight will be a banger and giving the betting odds on the totals, we should be in for a frantic pace and a potential knockout in the first round. This clearly favors Jeka Saragih and with Westin Wilson losing his last two bouts in the first rounds, the opening stage of this fight will be crucial for as long as it lasts. Saragih is certainly the more aggressive fighter and will be the one pushing the action from the start.

While Westin Wilson has a solid striking game and could really use his size to his advantage, we’re still waiting to see his full skillset on a UFC level. Saragih has looked a bit more polished through this juncture and he’s the rightful favorite heading into this fight.

For our prediction, we have to roll with the favorite in Jeka Saragih to get this win here. He’s much more confident in himself following his last win and that should carry over into this bout here. Take Jeka Saragih to win this fight early. Westin Wilson is a tough guy, so we’re going to stay away from this total as he could survive and drag this fight out later than expected.
