The long-lasting ugly saga between the National Football League and Jerry Jones continues to march on. With it comes tempers, frustration and, most importantly to members of the media, juicy quotes.
Jones decided Sunday was a nice day to get another NFL shot in, according to Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News.
“He’s paid the most level of punishment that I’ve seen for what he did,” Jones said. “So he’s done that. That would make any of us cognizant of the fact that you have serious accountability for any situation that you get into.
“. . . And it’s costly, and it’s certainly cost him. It’s cost him. So he’s smart; he is smart. And so we should have every reason to believe that that will be a constant reminder when you’re making decisions. I think that’s the case.”
Of course, Jones' prized running back, Ezekiel Elliott, did receive a six-game suspension for alleged domestic violence. All six games were served during the 2017 season, clearing him for the full slate of 16 in 2018.
Jones is meeting with Roger Goodell on Monday to settle a score concerning legal fees.
“Jones will testify under oath in his fight against the league's attempt to recoup about $2 million in legal fees. The costs resulted from Jones' threat to sue the NFL's compensation committee over Goodell's contract extension.”
Suffice to say, there aren't many warm and fuzzy feelings between the famed Cowboys owner and the, most times, infamous commish. As of right now, expect more quotes to hit those computer screens concerning Jerry Jones and the other side, the National Football League.
