The New York Jets have released a formal statement in regards to the allegations against team owner Woody Johnson, who has been accused of racism, sexism and corruption while serving at his post as the United States' ambassador to the United Kingdom, which he denied.

Johnson was notably appointed to such a role by President Donald Trump back in November 2017 and was recently investigated by State Department officials for a variety of different possible violations and wrongful doing.

However, Johnson has since denied such allegations of racism, sexism and corruption.

“I have followed the ethical rules and requirements of my office at all times,” Johnson said as a result of the team's official statement, via Dennis Waszak Jr. of the Associated Press. “These false claims of insensitive remarks about race and gender are totally inconsistent with my longstanding record and values.”

The NFL has had quite a bit on its plate as of late as the Jets owner's potential wrong doings are just the tip of the iceberg. In addition to the allegations against Johnson, the Washington Redskins are currently undergoing a full-on rebrand, which will include a new team name when all is said and done. The Redskins are also at the forefront of sexual harassment claims made by a group of women that at one time worked for the NFC East franchise.

Lastly, though perhaps most prevalently at the present moment, the NFL is still attempting to figure out how exactly the league will operate safely in 2020-21 as the “coronavirus” pandemic continues to sweep through the United States.
