It was far from an ideal showing for Adam Gase and the New York Jets in Week 1 versus the Buffalo Bills. Following New York's blowout defeat to the Bills, ESPN's Mike Greenberg blasted Gase, stating that New York is ‘wasting another season' with him as head coach.

During Monday's airing of ESPN's Get Up, Greenberg didn't hold back in his criticism of Gase.

“Adam Gase is the problem with the Jets. They should have fired him last year. It is ridiculous that we are now wasting another season with this guy, who anyone who has ever watched football can see, cannot coach this team. The players hate him. They don’t respond to him at all. And let me tell you something. Peyton Manning has put a lot of people’s kids through private school. Right? Keyshawn knows what I’m talking about when I say that. Adam Gase is at the top of that list.”

In his first season as the head coach of the Jets in 2019, it was a putrid start for Gase as the team began with a 1-7 record. However, a strong 6-2 finish in the team's final eight games was enough for some to be optimistic about the future in New York.

But in Sunday's contest against the Bills, the Jets looked out of sorts on offense, and Gase was severely outcoached by Sean McDermott. New York would proceed to lose the game by the score of 27-17 and would produce more questions than answers after the performance they put together.

Even before the season began, it is assumed that Gase could be on the hot seat for the Jets due to his lack of success and the situations involving Jamal Adams and Le'Veon Bell. Regardless of what New York does, it's evident what Greenberg believes the franchise should do with Gase.
