The New York Jets are coming off of a tough loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 15. Not only do the Jets and their fans have to face the harsh reality of their 3-11 record, but they will also possibly be without their head coach Robert Saleh for their Week 16 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, as New York deals with a COVID-19 outbreak.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Jets head coach Robert Saleh has tested positive for COVID-19. Saleh is vaccinated but is symptomatic, per the organization.

Being that it's Wednesday, Saleh does have an outside chance to be on the field for the Jets against the Jaguars, though it's still a blow for New York to be without their leader. Schefter reports that New York's tight end coach Ron Middelton will be the head coach if Saleh can't clear the protocols in time.

The Jets' COVID situation, among others, has worsened in recent days, with the team announcing that five players had tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. Fortunately for the Jets, they have a chance of getting Saleh and those players back in time to square off with the Jaguars.

Still, this is not news that any Jets fan wants to hear. New York has to pick themselves back off the mat and try to avoid their fifth campaign with five or fewer wins in the last six seasons.

And they may have to begin that quest without their head coach Robert Saleh.
