The Cleveland Browns had the chance to take Sam Darnold with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. A number of reports indicated that the Browns were seriously considered taking him. But instead, the Browns took Baker Mayfield, while Darnold dropped to the Jets at No. 3.

Darnold will now get to face the Browns for the first time since they passed him up for another quarterback. However, the young Jets QB says the Browns’ snub hasn’t really been on his mind since the draft and revenge won’t be a motivating factor for him on Thursday night.

“No, I’m just going to go out there and play ball,” Darnold said, via Cleveland.com. “… I thought I could’ve ended up there or several other teams,” Darnold said. “I honestly haven’t even thought about it since I got drafted by the Jets.”

Darnold has had a decent start to his NFL career. He already has a win to his name while the two teams that passed him up — the Browns and Giants — remain winless. And despite throwing two interceptions in their Week 2 loss to the Dolphins, he still had 334 yards passing.

It’s still too early to tell if the Browns will end up regretting their decision to take Mayfield over Darnold. But it doesn’t seem as if Darnold has any hard feelings toward Cleveland for choosing someone else. He seems happy ending up in New York, where he’s getting the chance to play right away — something he wouldn’t have been able to do with the Browns.
