It was a great night for New York Jets fans as their team obliterated the visiting Oakland Raiders, and Sam Darnold was really feeling it.

The second-year quarterback said he felt the atmosphere change during and after they overwhelmed the Raiders, 34-3. The team played good football on both sides of the field as Derek Carr and the rest of the Silver and Black weren’t able to get into a good rhythm and make the competition close.

According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Darnold was feeling how great the atmosphere was:

He said that taking things one week at a time is a more prominent thought and that living in the moment is much easier now than when the team was 1-7.

“Whenever you win it’s always going to feel a little bit different than when you lose,” Darnold said in his postgame press conference. “The vibe, it’s a lot better for sure. But we’ve just got to keep putting in the work during the week and if we do that then this vibe’s going to continue.”

The 22-year-old USC product had a terrific game in the pocket. He completed 20 passes for 315 attempts and two touchdowns. While he was sacked a couple of times, the Raiders pass rushers weren’t able to pressure him into making an interception. He was also productive on the rushing aspect as he managed to complete a QB sneak for a rushing touchdown of his own.

It’s still a long way before the Jets can even think of making the playoffs. However, their momentum is encouraging. They have nowhere to go but up.
