Zach Wilson’s NFL debut didn’t exactly go as planned as the New York Jets lost 19-14 to the Carolina Panthers. While it wasn’t awful as he did throw for two TD’s, fans still trolled him..and his mom after the game. Via TMZ:
That really doesn’t come as any surprise. I’m sure Wilson himself got lots of hateful DM’s, too. The Jets rookie didn’t exactly play awful, completing 20 of 37 passing attempts while throwing for 258 yards. But, he was sacked a total of six times by the Panthers’ defensive line. That’s due to the lack of protection, though.
Wilson’s mom, Lisa, made headlines at the NFL Draft because of how young and good-looking she looks for a mother. It’s really not a surprise that she received these types of messages though because people were already very aware of who she was on draft night.
All in all, Wilson’s Jets debut wasn’t bad by any means. There are definitely things to work on but it does seem pretty foolish that fans are sending his mom messages like that after literally one game in the league. But, she responded in perfect fashion. Well played, Lisa.
