The New York Jets made it clear when they traded up to the third overall slot in the 2018 NFL Draft that they intend on taking a quarterback. However, it remains to be seen as to which prospect is on the Jets' radar.

Now that the day has finally arrived, teams have a much better idea of their game plan for the draft. According to Matt Miller of Bleacher Report, coaches are hoping the team takes Wyoming's Josh Allen:

Miller added that among the coaches enamored with Allen is offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates.

Adding onto this: Jeremy Bates is a big Josh Allen fan. He has a lot of influence in that draft room.

Needless to say, Bates' opinion carries some weight in New York's decision-making process. Not only was he promoted to offensive coordinator at the start of the offseason, but he will also continue to double as the quarterbacks coach as well.

The Jets did a solid job of positioning themselves to potentially take Allen. They began the offseason by trading up from the sixth spot in a deal with the Indianapolis Colts. Their intentions to take one of the many quality quarterback prospects in this year's draft were made clear.

Fortunately, their chances of selecting Allen are looking bright given the recent rumors about the two picks ahead of them. Reports suggest that the Cleveland Browns will take Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield with the No. 1 overall pick. Meanwhile, the New York Giants are still deciphering between Penn State running back Saquon Barkley and NC state DE Bradley Chubb.
