The New York Jets are going to be heavy contenders in a lot of different free agency races this off-season. One of their more notable needs, besides almost everything, is at slot receiver.

Per Mike Garafolo, the Jets will be in on the top slot receivers. They are not the only ones with that need, as several other teams will have the same focus.

The slot receiver market is going to be headlined by Golden Tate. He will set the market for the rest of them. Of the teams listed, the Lions will not be competitive in the Tate race. They will be in on Jamison Crowder and Adam Humphries.

Tate should be the focus of the Jets. The Green Bay Packers also make a degree of sense for him, so there is some competition as well.

There are a lot of teams who need this kind of help, with limited options to do so. The Jets are not as focused on one position as other teams, so that could come back to haunt them.

Recent reports also have the Jets going after defensive talent too, such as Anthony Barr and Trey Flowers. They also need to figure out how to balance their free agent pickups with who they want to take fourth overall.

If all pans out, this Jets team will be a lot different next year, and in a good way. Sam Darnold could have better wide receivers to throw to and the defense could look a lot better.

These reports say the Jets are serious in a lot of free agent races.
