The New York Jets currently hold the third pick in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft. The consensus is that the Jets are going to use that pick to get what they hope would be the franchise’s quarterback of the future. This brings us to speculate on which quarterback would the Jets draft assuming they really are eyeing for one.

From what Rich Cimini of ESPN is reading from colleague Todd McShay’s view of the Jets’ position when it comes to their quarterback of choice, it appears that New York is slightly leaning on the idea of getting Baker Mayfield instead of Josh Rosen if given the choice.

What I'm hearing: Pretty much the same as McShay, with a slight edge to Mayfield. From what I understand, he has impressed the Jets during the pre-draft process, allaying any concerns about off-the-field issues (his 2017 arrest) and on-field antics. In my opinion, you need someone with a strong personality to handle one of the toughest jobs in sports — playing quarterback for a team that hasn't reached the Super Bowl in a half-century.

However, Cimini also believes that the Jets would pick Darnold if he dropped to them at No. 3. The USC quarterback has previously been tipped to the Cleveland Browns. But with Josh Allen gaining steam as their preferred choice and the New York Giants reportedly likely to go with running back Saquon Barkley, the Jets could have the option of taking Darnold, whom they would happily pick.

The 2018 NFL Draft begins this coming April 26.
