The New York Jets have made it clear that they want to think outside the box in choosing their next general manager and some around the NFL think that guy could be Peyton Manning. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is in the know around the NFL and thinks that Adam Gase could be the guy who could get Manning back into the game.

Rumors are flying within league circles that the Jets may make a run at the future Hall of Fame quarterback who has periodically been linked to NFL management possibilities. And Gase, who worked with Manning in Denver, possibly would be one of the few guys who could draw Manning back into football.

Manning wouldn’t be a traditional G.M., but Johnson has made it clear that he’s not looking for a traditional G.M.

Jets CEO and chairman Christopher Johnson said he wants more than just a good talent evaluator. Johnson wants someone who can come in and unite the organization and be a good people person. There is no doubt that Manning fits that mold and although it's unclear how well of talent evaluator he is, he would come in and boost the morale of the front office and bring everyone together.

The big question for the Jets is if Manning is interested in the job. Manning has been linked to many coaching and front office jobs since retiring but hasn't pulled the trigger on getting back into football yet. Maybe the Big Apple is just what he needs to get back into the league.
