During the early days of the 2016-17 campaign, Russell Westbrook started like a house on fire, racking up multiple triple-doubles on almost a nightly basis. That made a lot people wonder if he can maintain the pace and average double digits in points, rebounds, and assists throughout the regular season.

On Monday, the Oklahoma City Thunder guard notched his 42nd triple-double, the most in a single season in NBA history. Earlier in the week, Westbrook secured a triple-double average for the entirety of the season — a feat only done once before in league history.

As expected, Westbrook received a lot of congratulatory messages for his incredible achievement, from the likes of LeBron James and others. His shoe and apparel sponsor, Jordan Brand, even released a tribute video for him, showing the similarities in his style of play with Oscar Robertson, which also included some never-before-seen footage of him in his playing days.

Westbrook is having a career year and has led the Thunder to another playoff berth. They have already assured themselves of the sixth seed in the Western Conference and are scheduled to play the Houston Rockets in the first round. The former UCLA Bruin is averaging outstanding numbers of 31.9 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists, on his way to another scoring title.

Despite all the honors he's had this season, the Brodie has made it clear that he is only focused on winning and bringing more success to his team. That being said, the Thunder will definitely have their hands full once the postseason starts and will need to play at their best if they want to avoid an early exit.
