After seeing some late-game minutes due to the shortness of the roster, Metta World Peace was up to task on Sunday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, scoring eight points in his 11 minutes on the floor. The Los Angeles Lakers wanted to reward the 16-year veteran with a potential game-winning shot attempt with seven seconds left in regulation.

World Peace took a somewhat dubious corner three that clanked short off the rim, but was fortunately retrieved by Julius Randle, who ultimately found D'Angelo Russell from nearly the very same spot, burying the three as time expired and notching a season-high fourth straight win for the purple and gold.

Shooting guard Jordan Clarkson told reporters World Peace's legs were “shaking like a stripper” upon receiving the ball with a chance to win it in front of the home crowd at Staples Center.

The 37-year-old has been playing a very limited role with the team this season, but has found some late playing time due to the injury to Brandon Ingram and the organization's decision to shut down veteran forward Luol Deng.

“We want to reward Metta every chance we get for how great he’s been this year with the way he’s worked and the way he’s helped the young guys and just being positive,” Walton said before Sunday’s game. “He’ll get his standing O on Tuesday night, whether it is his last game here or not.”
