Lonzo Ball‘s much-awaited arrival into the league this upcoming season is an inevitable fact, whether it's his beloved Los Angeles Lakers, or the Boston Celtics, or any other team that selects him come June. But his exaggerated press-grabbing campaign has ticked people the wrong way, including players, even the younger ones like forward Juan Hernangomez, who's coming off his rookie season with the Denver Nuggets.

The Spanish international recently liked a post by Shaquille O'Neal, which criticized Ball's father, LaVar, for overpricing his son's sneakers and promoting them the way he has since their release.

The tweet, which has been liked more than 200,000 times and retweeted more than 100,000 — has a special place in those who have fought hard to land a spot in the NBA and even garner a brand's attention to don their sneakers.

“(Laughs) I have a personal take on this that I’m not willing to share. What I can say is all they’re trying to do is draw attention and get a big audience,” Hernangomez told Jorge Sierra of HoopsHype. “[Lonzo Ball] has proved nothing yet, although he may have a bright future. I don’t think his family’s approach is right, but you have to respect it. When he’s in the NBA, we’ll be waiting for him.”

Hernangomez knows there will be a legion of angry players waiting to show out Ball, whether it's proven veterans trying to embarrass him and his father's obnoxious claims, or younger players trying to make a name for themselves and making use of his spotlight to come up in a highlight reel.

“Yes, for sure. It’s going to be cool when the season begins and he gets to face the guys who have been around for many years and who deserve respect,” assured Hernangomez. “You have to respect those guys and their families. Basketball is about respect. You will never see LeBron talking about or criticizing other players’ families or stepping into trouble because he’s a pro and a legend. But [Lonzo] is young, his family is the way it is and you just have to deal with it.”
