It is now two seasons in a row where Juventus are unable to win the Serie A. Despite this season turning out great, considering how it started, Juventus are still beneath the level they want to be playing at. A great addition in Dusan Vlahovic in January did not help matters in the title fight, but they will be ready to contest the title next season. Of course, to do that, they need some key additions to the squad. To help them get to where they want to be, here are three moves Juventus must make in the 2022 summer transfer window.

Moves Juventus need to make in 2022 summer

Get a center back

Right now, Juventus have three center backs they can really rely on. Matthijs de Ligt is the young gun that will definitely still be in Juventus for years to come. The pairing of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci is legendary, as these two have led Juventus to two Champions League finals and countless Serie A titles.

However, Chiellini will be leaving Juventus this summer, and even though there is a chance Merih Demiral returns from loan, that would be three center backs for a club that likes to play with three at the back. Thus, a key addition to their squad must be a center back that will start games and that will be able to provide defensive stability for which Juventus were known at their hay day.

Right now, there are not many options out there for center backs. Two premier center backs that are going to be free agents seem to be snapped up. Anders Christiansen and Antonio Rudiger will both leave Chelsea for free this summer, with the first one going to Barcelona and the second to Real Madrid.

With that in mind, Juventus will likely go for the likes of Manuel Akanji out of Borussia Dortmund. He is fairly young, proven in a big league, and probably will not cost as much as some others could. Jules Kounde would also be an option, but Sevilla will likely ask for upwards of €80 million, a sum Juventus generally refrain from spending when there are other options around.

Get a left back

One more defensive position that could need reinforcements is the left side of their defense. Right now, Juventus have Alex Sandro, but the Brazilian fullback is far removed from his best days. Injuries have definitely caught up and he has been unreliable this season.

Danilo played a ton of minutes at left back, and so did the youngster Luca Pellegrini, but Juventus needs a placeholder until Pellegrini is ready to be a stable first option. He is good, of course, especially for his age, but for a team with championship aspirations, they need a veteran to take over the position until Pellegrini can be viable as an undisputed starter.

Thus, Juventus should go for Marcelo. They have already had great success with Dani Alves, bringing him over in 2016 and despite the Brazilian spending one season at Juventus, they did make the Champions League final that year. Marcelo is a player with tons of success and he has shown that he can still play in limited minutes for Real Madrid.

His age is concerning, as Marcelo is 34, but for a season or two in a league that is not as intensive, it could be a great move for all sides involved. A rotation of Sandro, Marcelo, and Pellegrini could be a fantastic trio to get Juventus where they need to be in the next few seasons.

Get a reliable second goalscorer

Right now, the best goalscorer for Juventus is Paolo Dybala, oddly enough. Dusan Vlahovic has been fantastic, but he is yet to match Dybala's 10 league goals and 15 overall. However, Dybala is set to leave Juventus, as injuries and a general inability to fit within the system Juventus coaches were attempting to implement derailed a potentially great career.

With Dybala leaving, Juventus will rely on the likes of Alvaro Morata, Moise Kean, and the returning Federico Chiesa to score goals alongside Vlahovic. We really do not know how Chiesa will look upon returning and the shortcomings of Kean and Morata are more than well-documented. Thus, there is a real need for a second goalscorer on this roster, possibly one that comes from the wings.

If they are able to poach him from Villarreal, Juventus should go all out on Arnaut Danjuma. The key part of Villarreal's incredible run in the Champions League, the former Bournemouth player has been fantastic this season. Overall, he scored 16 goals in 34 appearances, including a penalty goal against Juventus in the Champions League round of 16. He is likely not leaving Villarreal, but if Juventus send a good offer to the Spanish club, they might be inclined to send the Dutch player to Italy. He would be the perfect complementary goalscorer and a threat on the wings, something Juventus sorely need.
