Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly close to signing a new deal with the Serie A giants, but now there are rumors swirling that say different.

According to French outlet L'Equipe, Juve is considering a swap deal with PSG for 28-year-old Argentine striker Mauro Icardi. Ronaldo, who has one year remaining on his current contract, was apparently unhappy with Juventus finishing in fourth place last term and was keen on a move away from Turin in search of more trophies.

New boss Massimiliano Allegri meanwhile is planning an overhaul of the squad as they look to get back in title contention next season after winning Serie A for nine straight years prior to Inter lifting the trophy in 2020/21.

Juventus has been interested in Icardi for quite some time but missed out on his signature when he joined PSG last summer. Ronaldo's contract with the Old Lady is also making the club second guess the idea of keeping the Portuguese international around as he currently makes £3.8 million per month.

However, there is a snag as Juventus tries to sign Icardi. A clause in his deal at Paris claims that the Ligue 1 standouts would have to pay £12 million if they sell him to another Italian club after he initially joined from Inter.

Icardi bagged seven goals in 20 league appearances for PSG last term. Ronaldo on the other hand, netted 29 times, which led the Italian top flight.

If PSG could actually somehow pull this Ronaldo from Juventus transfer off, their squad would undoubtedly be a favorite to win the Champions League after already adding Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Achraf Hakimi.
