After selling him for over $100 million in 2016, Paul Pogba is now coming back to Juventus on a free transfer.
The Frenchman decided to leave Manchester United a few weeks ago after the club allegedly offered him “nothing” for an extension, paving way for Pogba to make his way to Italy for a second time. Per Fabrizio Romano:
Pogba has struggled to stay healthy and find consistent minutes across the last two seasons but a change of scenery could be exactly what he needs. The midfielder made just 20 appearances in 2020-21 for the Red Devils, scoring one goal and tallying nine assists.
During his time at Juventus from 2012-16, Pogba won four consecutive Scudetto's and two Coppa Italia trophies. His best campaign came in his final season with the Old Lady, netting eight times and laying on 12 assists in 36 outings in 2015-16.
There is no doubt Pogba is still a special talent and he'll get the opportunity to find more playing time at the Allianz Stadium, a place where the France international thrived previously.
As Romano noted, Pogba will be in the country in early July to undergo a medical and put pen to paper on this deal, which is expected to be three years. Juventus surely could use more depth in the middle of the park and Pogba will bring just that. A quality signing for the Italian giants.
