It has been one season since Kendrick Perkins last played in the NBA as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans.

During a recent interview with Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, Perkins still has his eyes set on making a comeback to the NBA.

“The body feels good, man, I’m just sitting here waiting on an opportunity,” Perkins said. “Hopefully I can get a training camp invite soon. I want to earn my way. I don’t want nobody to give me nothing. So I’ve been working hard, going two or three times a day, working and grinding. I’m just trying to stay with it.”

In the 2015-16 season with the Pelicans, he played in just 37 games where he averaged 2.5 points on 53.3 percent shooting from the field and 3.5 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per game. The 32-year-old sat out all of last season due to the lack of interest in him from around the NBA.

Perkins is reportedly looking to be in decent shape and is still young enough to be a viable contributor for an NBA team. What may also help his case is that he could be had on an cheap short-term deal for a team looking to add depth in the front court.

Ultimately, this is out of Perkins' hands as all he can do is wait to see if any team will give him a call to give him a chance to resume his NBA career.
