Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant is three games away from the biggest hardware of his life, but more than a decade ago, he was in a very serious relationship with the most coveted woman of all: Rachel Lindsay, the star of the hit show The Bachelorette.

The two dated while attending the University of Texas; Lindsay, pursuing a law degree, and Durant, terrorizing his opposition at the tune of 25 points per game and obtaining various national accolades in his way to the NBA.

“They broke up when she went to law school,” an insider source told Us Weekly via Martha Ross of the San Jose Mercury News, adding that they split on friendly terms. “It was a pretty serious relationship.”

Durant is coming off of one of the best postseason games of his career, leading the Warriors to a 113-91 Game 1 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, while Lindsay came back to Texas after getting her law degree from Marquette University.

She’s also a veteran of Bachelor Nation and quickly became a fan favorite during last season’s iteration of The Bachelor, ultimately getting dumped by bachelor Nick Viall.

Lindsay was casted as the first African-American “Bachelorette,” a compelling change that has made even a long-known critic of the show on Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar be a part of it, appearing as a guest star in a recent episode where Lindsay took her dating candidates on a basketball group date.
