Just when you thought things couldn't get any lower for the Sacramento Kings. The team had a golden opportunity to pounce on a depleted Dallas Mavericks team without their superstar Luka Doncic. It was supposed to be an easy win, or at least a competitive game. Instead, Alvin Gentry's crew faltered, losing 112 – 96 to go down to 15 – 22 on the season.

This brutal loss to the Mavs has the Kings interim coach reaching for a bottle of liquor tonight. After his post-game interview, Alvin Gentry quipped to the reporters that: (via Fresno Bee)

“If anybody needs me, I’ll be home drinking,”

Despite not having to play against the Slovenian wunderkind in Doncic, the Kings struggled mightily to stop the Mavs attack. Dallas shot an outstanding 50% from the field and 40% from deep, despite their main scorer and playmaker not in the game. Gentry seemed just as lost as his players, remarking to the media that:

“I’m open to suggestions if you have any ideas of what to do because we’ve tried it all in the third quarter,”

Gentry certainly hasn't held back in his assessment of the Kings. The ex-Pelicans head coach took over the reins in Sac-Town after Luke Walton was fired midway through the season. After a brutal loss to Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies, Gentry had this scathing remark about the team.

“This is the most disappointed I’ve been in my 34 years in the NBA. I can honestly say that,”

Perhaps Gentry's tough love is what this Kings organization needs to turn their misfortunes around. Let's see if they can bounce back after this brutal loss.
