Charles Barkley’s mouth is the gift that keeps on giving, and with the NBA season just around the corner, he’s off to the races again, churning out head-turning claims that we all just can’t help but consume.

In one of his latest interesting takes, Sir Charles predicts that the Sacramento Kings will make the playoffs this season during an episode of Open Court. He said it with so much conviction that everyone around surely thought is a ridiculous claim –except for Shaquille O’Neal, who also said that he thinks Sacramento “is going to make it.” O'Neal, however has an ownership stake in the Kings, so his agreement is a bit biased.

Sacramento has been one of the most miserably run franchises in recent memory in the NBA and it's unclear why Barkley thinks that the team will make the top eight in the Western Conference despite the team not making the cut in each of the last 11 seasons. Over that stretch, the Kings didn’t have a single winning season.

The Kings wasted some of DeMarcus Cousins prime years and a starting lineup that features Kosta Koufos and Bogdan Bogdanovic is likely to be demolished in the very competitive conference they are in. All those were not enough for Barkley to lose faith in Sacramento, however.

Maybe Barkley is just so confident in how head coach Dave Joerger will be able to steer this team just like he did back in his Memphis Grizzlies days.
