Sacramento Kings head coach Dave Joerger went through a scary incident last Sunday, falling to his knees during a first quarter outing against the San Antonio Spurs. According to Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee, Joerger is in stable health condition and expected to resume his coaching duties next week, as lead assistant Elston Turner takes the helm for the rest of this week.

Comprehensive tests by the Kings’ medical staff showed Joerger is healthy, but the organization will play it careful after he became light-headed after complaining for a call. He was soon escorted off the court to receive medical attention.

Turner took over for Joerger during Sunday's 113-98 loss to the Spurs and will serve as the acting head coach for the remainder of the Kings' road trip.

Despite Joerger's scary moment, rookie De'Aaron Fox turned up a career-high against one of the best defenses in the league, dropping 26 points and a perfect 6-of-6 performance from beyond the arc, pulling out all the stops, going against another fantastic point guard prospect in Dejounte Murray, who recently took over the reins for Tony Parker.

Turner has had some experience filling in for head coaches, including for Joerger when he was ejected from games while on his staff as coach for the Memphis Grizzlies. He also had to do that for the Kings as an assistant under Rick Adelman.

“There’s definitely a difference,” Turner told reporters, according to Jones. “A little different in making suggestions rather than making decisions. It was fun trying to put everything together, matchups, what they’re running, what we need to run.”
