Kings’ De’Aaron Fox reacts to NBA 2K20 updating his dunk rating
Fox improved across the board in his second season and actually finished 4th in the NBA in total assists (590), 8th in assists per game (7.3), 6th in total steals (133) and 9th in steals per game (1.6) per Basketball Reference. Those improvements saw Fox nearly make Team USA for the FIBA World Cup before pulling out to focus on the Kings’ upcoming 2019-20 season.
Fox had also been in the news after the release of the newest entry in the popular NBA video game franchise NBA 2K. NBA 2K20 had featured Fox with a lowly dunk rating of 60, which, as anyone who watched Fox play even a little would attest, was far too low for a vociferous and bouncy athlete like Fox.
Thankfully, though the game itself still seemingly has glaring issues that need fixing, the developers tweaked Fox’s stats and upped his dunk rating to 80. Swipa himself was rather pleased.

Certainly, a player with only 63 career dunks per Basketball Reference might not seem like he deserves such as lofty dunk rating. However, at only 6-foot-3, Fox’s tremendous vertical jump has led to some amazing in-game dunks off of clean steals and fast breaks – including a memorable (and incredible) game-winning putback jam in his rookie season against the Miami Heat:
The team behind NBA 2K is always very responsive to fan concerns, so it’s good to see Fox get his just desserts in the most recent game.
