The Sacramento Kings and the Miami Heat took part in an exhilarating back-and-forth contest on Saturday, with the Heat coming out on top. Following the disappointing loss by the Kings, De'Aaron Fox placed the blame on himself for not performing well enough from the free-throw line.

“Extremely frustrated,” Fox said, via The Athletic's Jason Jones. “Because of the way I play, I know I’m going to get fouled. I know I have to be able to get there and be comfortable making those free throws. I’m not saying I’m uncomfortable being there, I’ve just got to be able to make them. I think I’ve shot the ball better this year. That’s another thing, again, I feel I have to be a lot better at especially if we’re to be successful.”

Near the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Heat took an 11-point lead after Tyler Herro made a three-pointer. But the Kings would battle back in the game, taking a 104-103 lead when Buddy Heild converted a clutch three-point shot with under two minutes remaining.

Jimmy Butler would then give Miami a one-point lead with nearly 40 seconds remaining after a fadeaway near the basket. However, Sacramento's next three shots were all taken by Fox, who failed to convert on any of them. Then, a Richaun Holmes shot was blocked on the final possession, sealing the game for the Heat.

Besides Fox's struggles down the stretch, his woes at the free-throw line loomed large in a game that was decided by one point. The speedy point guard would make only three of his eight free-throw attempts in the game, which upset Fox after the game concluded.

Given how he plays with a downhill mentality, Fox consistently has chances to get points at the charity stripe. It's worth noting that Fox is currently shooting a career-worst 67.2 percent from the free-throw line to begin the season.
