De’Aaron Fox didn’t put his best foot forward in his first career start against John Wall and the Washington Wizards. Fox had just two points on 1-of-8 shooting, easily the worst offensive performance of his young career. But despite the rookie’s poor outing, his fellow Kentucky Wildcats alum Wall still had a lot of praise for him.

“He's been great for those guys,” Wall told Sactown Royalty. “He's got some great veterans around that's going to help him. Just getting adjusted to the game. He's very fast, he's very athletic, he knows how to play the game. He shoots the ball better than what I did coming in. I think it's just finding a comfortability to know when to be aggressive and when to find his teammates with a young team.”

Prior to his poor showing against Wall’s Wizards, Fox had been doing very well through his first five games. He averaged 14.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 28.6 minutes while playing behind veteran George Hill.

Wall has been high on Fox for some time. He said in the summer that Fox might have a better career than Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball, the two point guards picked ahead of Fox in this year’s draft.

There’s a strong argument to be made that Fox has been the most impressive of the three thus far, and he could get even better once he adjusts to the game and becomes more comfortable running the team as Wall suggests.
