As the season moves closer to the trade deadline, one of the names that has popped out as a potential trade candidate for the Sacramento Kings is third-year man Bogdan Bogdanovic.
The 27-year-old is currently on the final year of his three-season deal, and will become a restricted free agent in the summer. Nevertheless, the Kings front office are reportedly in no hurry to move the 6-foot-6 shooting guard, with the team willing to allow Bogdanovic to enter restricted free agency in the offseason.
To be clear, Bogdan Bogdanovic is going to be a restricted free agent. This means that the Kings will still be in the driver's seat in terms of extending his deal. All they would have to do is to match the offer any other team would be willing to pay the Serbian national.
This, however, does not mean that Bogdanovic won't be traded before the February deadline. Sacramento is reportedly still willing to listen to offers for the former All-Rookie team member, and could part ways with him at the right price.
Bogdanovic has been a steady force for the Kings this season, functioning as head coach Luke Walton's starting two-guard. Currently, he is averaging a career-best 14.5 points (on 42.6 percent shooting), 3.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals, while also connecting on 2.6 3-pointers per ballgame on a 38.3 percent clip.
Sacramento's season is quickly becoming another lost one, and at this point, it would not be surprising if the Kings opt to cash in on him now for some future assets.
