The Sacramento Kings have waived guard Jordan Farmar, according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

After a brief two-game stint and 37 total minutes of playing time with the team, Farmar has served his purpose — playing the spare minutes to avoid burning the tires on starter Ty Lawson.

With the Kings' ninth game of the season coming on Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans and Darren Collison in line to return from his eight-game suspension, the team will no-longer have a roster spot for Farmar once Collison is activated from the suspended list.

Collison will likely resume his duties as the starting point guard of the team, relegating Lawson to a backup role.

Jordan Farmar, who also played for the team during the preseason, totaled 12 points and nine assists in his borrowed stint as a temporary member of the Kings.
