Enes Kanter has been pretty open about his desire to opt out of his contract with the New York Knicks — first saying he will, then his agent coming up with duct tape to say nothing's been decided yet.

Recently, Kanter went one step further in the self-promotion of his decision, posting a picture of himself that included James Harden saying “my legs telling me opt out my body’s telling me opt in.”

Yet, coach David Fizdale won't make much of his social media comments, rather going by what's on paper.

“As of today, he’s ours,” David Fizdale said, according to Al Iannazzone of Newsday. “That’s how I look at it. He’s a Knick. Until I’m notified otherwise.”

“He could have been fooling me but he seemed excited and like he’s really looking forward to this fresh start. The guy’s a heck of a player and he fits the toughness part of what we’re talking about.”

Fizdale is pushing all the right buttons at the start of his journey with the Knicks, praising his guys left and right and making them feel wanted, which plays a huge part in building a relationship with a core of players.

Enes Kanter is slated to make $18.6 million this upcoming season, but feels he could make even more by opting out of his contract. The Knicks have played a more conservative approach since the new regime of Steve Mills and Scott Perry in the front office, which could sour any potential of the team signing him to a lengthy contract.
