The New York Knicks rolled with Emmanuel Mudiay at the point guard position coming off the All-Star break, but it's his resolve that is meant to keep him in the starting lineup, after taking over for starter Jarrett Jack after the All-Star break.

“I'm not going to take it for granted. I came in as a lottery pick, so I was kind of handed the spot and stuff like that. So the fact that I'm in that position again, it's a blessing,” Mudiay said, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.

“Thank God for it. I just have to take full advantage.”

Mudiay had only played in three games as a Knick before getting the nod from head coach Jeff Hornacek, dropping eight points, five rebounds, four assists, and a steal in a win over the Orlando Magic, snapping an eight-game skid.

The Knicks, however, could use Mudiay and rookie Frank Ntilikina in the same backcourt at times, but for now, it is the three-year veteran who will get the nod to start at the controls.

Trey Burke, who flourished against the Orlando Magic with a season-high 26 points, can play both guard spots alongside Ntilikina, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, and Mudiay.

Hornacek said Tuesday that he may change his lineups from time to time and see what different combinations have proved most effective on the floor.

Mudiay has only played below 30 minutes since facing the Magic with his old team, the Denver Nuggets in early November. As a result, he's done numerous sprints during the All-Star break to help get his conditioning under way.
