When Kemba Walker arrived in the offseason, many New York Knicks fans felt he was the missing piece to the team's stronger push after a feel-good run in the 2020-2021 season.

Not only did Walker reach his childhood dream of playing for his home team, but he also got a much-needed fresh start after a largely unsuccessful stint with the Boston Celtics. But after just a few games, what was supposed to be a solid move for the Knicks has become a sad one.

On Sunday night, Walker got another DNP. Even if the Knicks badly needed a spark against the Milwaukee Bucks, coach Tom Thibodeau didn't call on the four-time All-Star. After the game, Thibodeau sounded off on the matter (via New York Daily News).

“It’s basically a coaching decision, yeah.”

Curiously, even with Immanuel Quickley and Alec Burks not in uniform, Thibodeau still glued Walker to the bench, going instead with rookie Quentin Grimes, who had career-highs of 27 points and 40 minutes. When asked to explain, Thibodeau doubled down on his decision.

“Just based on the previous two games and the groups that played well in those two games. And then how the game unfolded and the size of their guards and things like that. We thought that would give us the best chance to win.”

Win the Knicks did not. They have now lost eight of their last 10 games. Walker, who has remained professional throughout his sorry situation, has racked up seven straight DNPs.
