Kemba Walker has been out of the New York Knicks rotation since November 26th, but there is a very good chance that changes on Saturday against his former team, the Boston Celtics.

Like most of the NBA right now, the Knicks have a bunch of players in health and safety protocols, including three guards in RJ Barrett, Quentin Grimes, and Immanuel Quickley. Also, Derrick Rose is dealing with an ankle injury and could be sidelined on Saturday night.

If Rose does sit, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau will likely have no choice but to insert Kemba back into the rotation as he and Alec Burks would be the only available point guards.

Since Thibs decided to bench Walker, they haven't exactly excelled. New York is just 3-7 and currently holds a  disappointing 13-16 record on the season. Kemba came home in the offseason on a two-year, $18 million deal but struggled in his first 18 games, averaging just 11.7 points per game. But, he did shoot 41% from downtown.

Nonetheless, the 31-year-old Bronx native accepted the fact that he'd have to work his way back into the mix and has continued to support the Knicks by serving as a mentor to the young guns on this roster.

Even if Rose does end up suiting up at the TD Garden, it seems fitting that Thibodeau gives Kemba a chance to play. Maybe the time off was exactly what he needed to find his best self again.
