The New York Knicks are finally getting one player back from the COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Obi Toppin has cleared the protocols and has now rejoined the team, just a day before they take on the Washington Wizards on Thursday.

Along with RJ Barrett, Obi Toppin entered the league's health and safety protocols nearly two weeks ago, and he has been absent ever since as he tried to recover from the dreaded disease. The Knicks have since been dealt with more COVID-19 issues after that, with a total of six players heading into the list.

Immanuel Quickley, Kevin Knox, Quentin Grimes and Miles McBride all headed to the health and safety protocols, leaving the Knicks severely undermanned.

The Knicks suffered a four-game losing streak earlier in the month, which coincided with their COVID-19 debacle. Fortunately, they were able to bounce back in recent days, winning two of their last three games. With Obi Toppin returning, New York got additional help to help lessen the burden on Julius Randle.

It remains to be seen when Barrett will return, but considering he entered protocols almost the same time as Toppin, he could be back soon as well–perhaps in time for their Christmas showdown with the Atlanta Hawks.
