The Knicks have shown no hesitation to rush back All-Star forward Kristaps Porzingis any time soon if it comes at the risk of jeopardizing his long-term health, according to Ian Begley of ESPN New York.

“Our goal is to not to do anything that jeopardizes KP’s future as being one of the foundational pieces of this team,” said President Steve Mills according to The New York Post, “He’s back. We’ll have some medical evaluations this week and we’ll start to develop what the right plan is for him to come back. But we’re not going to do anything to jeopardize the future of the franchise. We’re going to stay true to that.”

Porzingis tore his ACL last season during a game with the Milwaukee Bucks in February, with a diagnosis to be out for the remainder of the season and parts, if not more than half, of the upcoming season as well. He's back in New York to date, arriving from Latvia as he undergoes further testing so that Knicks management can evaluate his progress and get a better gauge of how his return to the court should be approached.

Mills also stated a few months earlier that the organization had repaired its strained relationship with their star forward.

“We communicate with KP all the time,” Mills added. “And we know he feels good about directionally where we're going. I think you can see that through some of his tweets and social media stuff, and our conversations with him. He's back on board with where we're going and we feel really good about his future with us.”

Newly acquired head coach David Fizdale and staff visited him in Latvia to personally see how his rehab had been progressing as well as to get acquainted with one another. It looks as though the Knicks will tread carefully as they approach the new season with their prized attraction, who could also play a major role in the luring of major free agents in the summer of 2019.
