Earlier this week, veteran guard Trey Burke latched onto the New York Knicks as one of the last preseason roster additions.

However, his time with the Knicks turned out to be quite brief as he has been waived after just three days with the team, according to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.

This puts the 24-year-old back on the open market just days prior to the start of the regular season, which he could join another team. Prior to joining the Knicks, he had been nearing an agreement on a deal to join the Oklahoma City Thunder but backed out of the contract.

Burke is coming off his least productive season in his lone campaign with the Washington Wizards putting up career lows across the board with 5.0 points and 1.8 assists in 12.3 minutes per game in 57 games played without recording a single start. Despite not meeting the expectations of a first-round pick, he has proven to be a reliable option off the bench over the last few years.

Although he has hit another crossroad in his brief career, there could be plenty of opportunities that may arise in the coming weeks that may include playing overseas either in Europe or China.
