The New York Knicks laid a massive goose egg in the offseason after setting ridiculously high expectations prior to the start of the summer. None of their target free agents went their way, as both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving took their talents across the bridge to the Brooklyn Nets. They also lost out on the Zion Williamson sweepstakes and landed the third overall pick instead.

Nevertheless, the Knicks have rounded out their roster with a bevy of tough-minded players and veterans, such as Julius Randle, Taj Gibson, Marcus Morris and Bobby Portis. The problem, however, is they all play the same position.

Per Mark Berman of The New York Post, an NBA personnel expressed his concern over possible chemistry problems that may arise in New York.

“The worry is chemistry issues and clashing as well as a rotation that will be tough to keep all happy,’’ said one NBA personnel man. “It could turn into every-man-for-himself – self preservation on full display.’’

Moreover, an anonymous rival GM likes their additions but admitted that the fit is worrisome. Likewise, he specifically singled out Julius Randle's pretty hefty price tag as a possible dilemma for them moving forward.

“They’ve aggregated some talent but I‘m not sure of the fit,” the GM said. “Knox is still a mystery. Teams liked Randle, but the [contract] number was scary [three years, $63 million].’’

With all the big men they amassed in the offseason, Knicks fans have to wonder how all four of them will fit alongside each other. If things go south immediately, the losses begin piling up, and the mood in the locker room goes sour, something is bound to give in New York.

Nevertheless, the Knicks still do have a bunch of promising prospects in Dennis Smith Jr., Kevin Knox, Frank Ntilikina, Mitchell Robinson and 2019 third overall pick R.J. Barrett. Hopefully, the veteran additions don't impede the development of their young core.
