Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks are currently up 2-0 in their first round playoff series vs the Indiana Pacers after winning each of their first two home games at Madison Square Garden. Brunson got injured early on in Game 2 with a foot issue but was able to return and lead the Knicks to a thrilling victory down the stretch, overcoming another second half Pacers lead in the process.

One person who was injured and did not return to the game on Wednesday was Knicks' starting forward OG Anunoby, who sustained a hamstring strain on a breakaway layup attempt late in the game and immediately headed to the locker room, unable to put much if any pressure on that leg in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

The injury kept Anunoby out of the lineup for Friday evening's Game 3 as the series shifted to Indiana, and apparently, things aren't going to be getting better anytime soon.

“I'm told that OG Anunoby will also be out for game 4 on Sunday,” said ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski on NBA Countdown, via Clutchpoints on X, the social media platform formerly referred to as Twitter. “This is a Knicks team that has to prepare for the possibility that he may be out longer than that with that left hamstring injury.”

The Knicks are running out of options

The Knicks are currently operating without the services of almost their entire frontcourt rotation, as Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, Bojan Bogdanovic, and now Anunoby are all dealing with various ailments that have kept them out of the lineup.

In their absence, head coach Tom Thibodeau has had to tighten his rotations even more, which saw starting guard/forward Josh Hart play all 48 minutes in both Game 1 and Game 2 of the series vs the Pacers.

The fact that the Knicks are still competing and in fact winning despite all of these injuries is a testament to not only the coaching prowess of Thibodeau, but also the star power of Jalen Brunson, as well as the great play of the Knicks' role players who are available, including Hart and Donte DiVincenzo.

In any case, Game 4 is set to take place on Sunday afternoon from Indianapolis, apparently with OG Anunoby once again out of the lineup.
