Nike continues to add new editions to the ever-expanding signature catalogue of Los Angeles Laker legend Kobe Bryant. In keeping his legacy prevalent, the brand has been releasing new colorways of his classic Protro sneakers, which have been updated by Nike and continue to be the most popular shoes worn by NBA stars. The Nike Kobe 8 will be next on the list as we see two upcoming monochromatic colorways ready to arrive in the next couple of months.

The Nike Kobe 8 was first released in 2012 and continued to advance the theme of the Nike Kobe line with the Mamba-inspired sneaker, but with this edition focusing more on speed and precision. The low-cut design is still favored by players all over the NBA and we've seen players rock colorways like the “Venice Beach” or “Mambacita” additions in these latest Playoffs.

These next two colorways will come in a more monochromatic style and feature “team” aspects, simple colorways that can easily be matched with a team's uniform combinations. Releasing in “University Red” and “Orange/White,” these upcoming Nike Kobe 8s are perfect for getting the whole squad laced in some Kobe sneakers.

Nike Kobe 8 Protro

First teased by sneaker source @yankeekicks on IG, this Nike Kobe 8 Protro comes in an all-red colorway that immediately reminds us of the classic Nike basketball shoes coming in team colors like red, blue, and black. This pair features “University Red” as the main color and extends throughout just about every part of the shoe. We see white contrasting through the Mamba logos, Nike Swoosh, zoom outsole, and Kobe Bryant signature along the heel.

All in all, this pair is very clean and provides a stunning silhouette with the bright red coloring. The shoes have yet to be officially announced but with this pair already coming into circulation, we could expect aa public release on the horizon. As of now, these are slated to drop sometime in Fall 2024 and should come with the standard retail tag of $190. Stay up-to-date on these for an official release date in the near future.

In another appearance, we see a first in-hand look of the Nike Kobe 8 Protro taking this Orange/White colorway. Leaked by user @thesolechaserz, this Kobe 8 will see a blaze orange colorway for the first time, offering a great option for college, high school, and AAU teams who rock orange with their uniforms.

This colorway will follow the same cadence as the previous “University Red” edition and features white contrasting the orange throughout the rest of the shoe. Once again, these monochromatic looks seldomly come out for a sneaker of this caliber, but it's clear Nike is trying to make these more accessible and come out with more color options for hoopers at home. No release has been announced for these, but expect to hear more regarding a release for these sometime throughout the summer months. Per usual, they'll come with the standard $190 price tag.
