On the season five premiere of The Kardashians, Kourtney Kardashian went into detail about the emergency fetal surgery she had prior to delivering her fourth child Rocky Thirteen Barker.

“The doctor who will come to the house to do the scan is a high-risk doctor, really detailed and thorough at looking for everything,” the Lemme founder explains. “And something caught his eye where he wanted me to see a couple of specialists and I had to go in for fetal surgery where they do surgery on the baby, which was terrifying.”

“The timing of it was miraculous. That like saved everything,” Kardashian Barker adds.”I just feel so grateful that, you know, how everything played out and for the doctors that really helped make the best decisions that really saved our baby.”

“[The] doctor was like, ‘That was a trauma and I want you guys to be able to take a second and know that that was really traumatic,’ “she recollects on the experience.

After she received the fetal surgery, Kardashian posted about the situation on Instagram and spoke about the feedback she gotten from fans and her doctors on how the situation occurred in the first place.

“They were so grateful that I posted something about it because they said so many people don't feel comfortable, even telling their friend or their family members because they're like, ‘Did they do something wrong or different things?' ” Kardashian Barker says.

“But my doctor's like, ‘There's nothing that you did wrong, it's not age-related. It's like just a super rare thing that happened.' But then I was like, after this happened, I was like God's got this. We're good. This is a miracle and I'm gonna be super positive.”

She added that she feels a lot better about the situation and how her life was after the surgery.

“I feel good. But I also felt good. So I'm like, yeah, if I don't feel movement for like, five minutes, I'm like shaking him up because of the emergency fetal surgery that I had to have,” she says.

“I'm now like mostly on bed rest because there's a hole in the amniotic sac from where they had to go into the surgery. So I'm not allowed to drive, I'm not allowed to stand for more than 20 minutes. I'm really not leaving the house.”

She added that it's in her personality that she is god under high-stress situations, but after it was all over, she felt a wave of relief.

“There's some superpower that I have that in emergency situations, I get really calm. And then right when we left I was like, ‘Okay, I could take a deep breath. I could cry. I could get it out,' ” she explains.

Last summer, Kardashian went to the hospital for emergency fetal surgery. She shared with fans what she went through and thanked the doctors and hospital staff for saving her and her baby.

“I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life,” Kourtney began her caption on the photo.

“I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this,” she continued.

“As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear,” she added. “I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.”

She concluded, “Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing.”
