As the 2017-18 NBA season quickly approaches, the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers have undergone numerous changes during the offseason.

In President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka's first offseason together, they drafted Lonzo Ball, traded for Brook Lopez, and signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. As for the Clippers, they re-signed Blake Griffin, traded Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets, and signed Danilo Gallinari.

With both Los Angeles teams ushering a new era, they will face off against each other to begin the 2017-18 NBA season according to Brad Turner of Los Angeles Times:

For the Lakers, there is plenty of excitement with the new front office and Ball's Most Valuable Player performance at the Las Vegas Summer League. With the young core looking to take another step in their development, Los Angeles is hoping their performance this upcoming season will attract two superstars like LeBron James and Paul George in free agency.

As for the Clippers, it was time to break up their team after failing to make it past the Western conference semifinals despite one of the league's best starting lineups. In his role as President of Basketball Operations, head coach Doc Rivers could not improve the team's depth and recently left the role to focus on coaching.

With the Lakers on the rise and the Clippers facing uncertainty, this year's matchups should be intriguing.
