The Golden State Warriors have won their seventh NBA Championship in their franchise history, and their fourth over the last eight seasons. The Dubs beat the Boston Celtics 103-90 in Game 6 of the NBA Finals Thursday night, doing so on the parquet floor of TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. If there is any group of fans outside of Warriors fans smiling last night, it would be Lakers fans.

In today's world of social media, it's quite easy for Lakers fans to express their happiness.

These types of reactions do not come as a surprise and are not hard to find. The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics rivalry is legendary.

During the first true decade of dominance and dynasty in NBA history, the Celtics won 11 titles in 13 years. Almost every one of those championships came at the expense of the Lakers in the NBA Finals. Lakers all-time great and the logo, Jerry West, has openly talked about how losing to Boston so frequently affected him mentally.

He would eventually win a chip, beating Boston in 1972. There was obviously the Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird era in the 1980's. The Lakers got the better of that, winning five titles to Boston's three.

From that era, the Lakers have gone on to win six more titles. Five of them with Kobe Bryant and then the most recent one in the COVID shortened season with LeBron James. Meanwhile, the Celtics only have one title since Bird retired, beating Los Angeles in 2008.

Both franchises have won 17 titles and the Warriors snuffed out any chance of Boston getting to 18 this year.
