Through his first four years in the league, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has developed the reputation of being one of the better defenders at his position.
This has oftentimes drew him the tough assignment of covering the opposing team's most talented offensive threat on the wings. During a recent interview for Uninterrupted's Open Run podcast, Caldwell-Pope singled out one current All-Star as the toughest to guard.
“The toughest person I had to guard was Dwyane Wade. Just so much experience. The way he plays. He’s not playing fast, he’s just gonna give you everything.”
Although Dwyane Wade isn't the same explosive player as he was earlier in his career, he remains a dynamic offensive scorer. The 35-year-old still has the ability to get to the rim off the dribble with his strong footwork and can be a deadly factor from mid range.
Wade has a proven resume behind him with 12 All-Star selections, eight All-NBA team nods, and more than 21,000 career points. He is coming off another productive campaign where he averaged 18.3 points per game in his first year with the Chicago Bulls.
This just speaks to the tremendous ability that Wade has on the court even as he enters his 15th year in the league.
